Slam is an independent movie that was directed by Marc Levin in 1998. The movie is about a young African American man passion for poetry is interfered with his social background. The motion picture stars Saul Williams, a viable performing artist, as Raymond Joshua, a youthful dark man who is halted by police who discover four ounces of weed. This movie shows the audience what many young African Americans go through and what their experience is like in the correctional system. While interacting with kids, Raymond reads them his poetry and one of the kids were inspired and read something he came out with. He is then seen dealing weed which was referred to as “medicine”.
