What is marijuana and what are its effects? Should marijuana be legalized or not?

Marijuana is a drug made from dried parts of the hemp plant cannabis. It is not a narcotic. Marijuana can cause hallucinations, slow down coordination, and impair the ability to perform skilled acts. However, in 4,000 years of history, no one has ever died from a pot overdose.

II. I think that marijuana should be legalized for many reasons. Another reason is that if marijuana was legalized, our jails wouldn’t get full because of all the people who get caught with the possession of marijuana. Some other benefits of legalizing marijuana include lifting the ban of marijuana use and treating it like other drugs such as tobacco and alcohol. The nation would gain immediate and long-term benefits. This change in law would greatly improve the quality of life for many people.

Victims of glaucoma and those needing anti-nausea treatment would find marijuana easily available. If the medical advantages claimed for marijuana are real, many more patients would benefit. Another good thing is that doctors could investigate marijuana’s medical uses without fear of controversy. The last reason is that the Federal government would benefit in two ways. First, Federal revenues would increase because marijuana cigarettes would be taxed at the point of sale.

The companies that make cigarettes would also pay income taxes. Secondly, there would be a reduction in the amount spent on law enforcement efforts to apprehend and prosecute users and sellers of marijuana. III. There are reasons why marijuana shouldn’t be legal. One reason is because there was one study that shows there were about 55% of all fatal accidents in the U.

    S. was related to alcohol intoxication. Marijuana may prevent similar risks. Another reason why is because it can cause LSD or large doses can cause this.

LSD can cause a person to develop a mental illness. In 1970, 11% of all high school seniors said they were using marijuana every day. By 1975, about 27% said they had used marijuana sometime in the previous month. In 1978, the monthly users grew to 37%, but then dropped to 23% in 1986 and again to 12% in 1987.

Conclusion: Marijuana is the most widely used drug among young people in the U.S. It is estimated that about 24 million people, or approximately 1/10 of the population, have tried marijuana.

    S. has tried marijuana.
