    Did you know that Abraham Lincoln suffered from a major case of depression. One of his famous quote was “Folks are usually about as happy as they make their minds up to be.” I think this quote means that if you truly want to be happy you will find a way. It might also mean that being sad is a illusion that your mind creates This shows that even though Abraham Lincoln was majorly depressed he still looked for the good things in life. This overall helped improve our country significantly. He also made it so that people could not have slaves so he set slaves free.     Abraham Lincoln was born February 12, 1809. He was born in Hardin County, Kentucky in a small one-roomed log cabin. His father’s and mother’s names were Thomas Lincoln and Nancy Lincoln. Abraham was self-taught and would only attend for a maximum of a year max. He never went to college but always loved to learn new things. When he was very young his father lost everything causing his family and him to have to move to Perry County. When he was only 9 his mother died so his sister had to take care of him and pretty much raise him.

    By Abraham growing up without a mother, an education, and moving from place to place. He became stronger and more self-taught. His sister raised him resulting in him being such a kind and sweet person. His career started when he was elected as Illinois State Legislature for several years.He was famous for ending slavery and passing the thirteenth amendment. This how he taught us not to judge people on their skin color or their gender.He had to overcome his depression before he could help his country and make others happy.

    He did many great things in his life that made him noticeable and famous. One of those things was passing the law setting slaves free. He was also a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives.He was also a Commander and Chief while the Civil War was happening. Another thing he did was create a system that would help with lifting riverboats off sandbars. He was even the only U.S. president ever to get a patent. One pitfall moment he had depression. He fought through his depression and worked to make the world a better place. He always tried to stay happy and his quotes prove it.
