“Before you turned your back and walked, fading, into the mist” (Chipasula page 31). This poem sounds like the last goodbye from a daughter to her loving mother. A mother is someone who can take the place of others but no one can take the place of her. There are many definitions you could use to describe your mother. Most people may talk about a some positive or negative characteristics of their mother, But there are so many great traits that my mother have, that it would be unfair to talk about just one thing. Being honest caring and a hard worker at whatever you may do weather is going to work every day or going to school that will eventually lead up to a career, also having a big bubbly personality are all some great personality traits, which my mother was born with. I believe I gained a lot of those traits as well especially since becoming a mother myself.

Ever since I can remember, my mother has been a strong role model for me. She also raised me to always be kind honest and respectful to everyone you meet. One of her famous quote was that we all should give the same respect to the CEO of the big company, or a Doctor as well as the janitor or anyone in between those three. I must admit when I was younger I didn’t quite understand what she mean, now that I’m a lot older and wiser I get her point and I do exactly that because giving respect to people be very important to do.

This poem I read in English class was a few details about a women name Stella ideals about her views of what motherhood was like. Motherhood is all about the relationship between a mother and her child. In the poem the mood was very sweet, loving and sad, because the poem talk about a daughter who is taking care of her sick mother who happens to pass away in the poem.” On the far bank of the river you sit silently with your mouth shut.”(Chipasula page 31). It also gave the daughter view on how thing could be better if her mom was still alive because the daughter is about to become a mother herself, “With this bundle that grow like a giant seed”(Chipasula page 31). Sella wish so bad that her mom was still there to help her out with things that may come along with motherhood,” I bear the burden of continuity”(Chipasula page 31).

I can relate to Stella poem because my mother would always encourage me when things seem too hard to handles for me, She will simply say, ‘Complaining is a useless way to solve problems, “but becoming active on the issue is a great way to conquer it. I can say that I agree with her 100% and why should we complain and stress over thing that can be fixed. And if there’s just no solution to it just deal with it to the best of your ability When you actually take the time to think about it makes so much sense.

My relationship with my mother, started the day that I was born on, and it continues to this day even though she lives in Florida and I live in New York. She is still a very big part of my life as well as my children, she is also the greatest grandmother in the whole world to my kids, and they both absolutely adore her and she feels the same way about her grandkids too. So I really enjoyed this poem by Stella chipasula about the love between a mother, and her daughter can definitely last forever. “I bear you proudly on my back where you are no longer a question.” (Chipasula page 31).

In conclusion, Stella talk about how important it is to have your mother in your life because they can teach us so many things about life and we can even carry some of this lesson to our future children we should always cherish our mothers for without them there would be no us. So yes I really enjoyed this poem, and the type of mother daughter connection that these two lady had together.
